A Dreamy Elopement {Craig & Taylor}

Well, first of all … be prepared for the longest post of my life! And trust me… narrowing the photos down to just these pics was hard. This wedding was a dream come true for me. It was everything that made me become a wedding photographer in the first place! SO – Taylor and Craig thank you so very much for trusting me to capture your beautiful day.

When I first Skyped with Taylor, I asked her how her and Craig met. She had just come out of a long, heart-breaking relationship a few months earlier and her girlfriends decided she needed a night out. So they took her to see some live music. Enter Craig – talented musician that just so happened to be playing that night (And some people don’t believe in fate! Psh.). Taylor said when she saw Craig, all she could think of is how dream he was. Her words, I think were: “He was so dreamy. He IS so dreamy! Britt, my fiance is DREAMY.” Adorable, right?! They went on a date and have spent every day together ever since.

This couple is AMAZING. I can’t even say that enough. Taylor has the grace and beauty of a classic Hollywood star, with a sense of humor and kindness that makes you feel like an instant best friend. Craig is the picture of mysterious musician, with a humble and truly genuine spirit. Their family and friends were overjoyed to be a part of every little detail. They laugh together more than any couple I’ve ever met – and every aspect of their big day had meaning. OH and did I mention Taylor planned this in FIVE weeks?! I wouldn’t have believed it either.:)

The theme of the wedding was based around their song – Mirrorball by Elbow… “So life off love…” I adored watching Taylor anxiously await for her cue to walk down. I loved watching the exact moment Craig’s breath was taken away. Their vows were filled with all the heart, love, and emotion of two people living a true love story. They gave each other’s mother’s a locket with the promise to care for and always adore the other’s child. And Taylor literally jumped up and down when it was time for their first kiss. I could go on… and on… and on… but let’s get to the photos!

Taylor & Craig… thank you a million times over for the honor of capturing your lovely day and all its moments.

emily - LOVE these Brit!!!! They turned out gorgeous!

A rad little Wednesday post…

Ah! I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday… it seems to me that when there is something exciting coming up, the days leading to it just seem to draaaaaggggg… on…. Am I right?!:)

I am soooo giddy about this weekend that I’m going to start this post with all things RAD for this week! Here we go…

1. Friday we are taking Olivia to the zoo… I always love zoo days – and getting the year pass was the best purchase ever. It’s such an easy, fun way to hang out as a family and Liv can toddle her way around to each exhibit… super fun.:)

2. Friday night I get to go see WICKED! If you know me at all (and a lot of you do), I’m a total musical junky. Old, new, Broadway, movies, cheesy ones, and moving ones… doesn’t matter. So I couldn’t be more thrilled. To add to that, I’m also a New Girl fanatic (what girl doesn’t want to be Zooey D right now?). I just watched an episode last night where Winston is belting out “Gravity” and “Popular”… my husband looked at me with this “Wow, that’s a strangely familiar scene” face. Yep. I’m that girl. I know that soundtrack from the first beat to the last. And it drives him crazy… good thing he loves me so much.;)

3.  Aaaaaannnddd finally… I’m shooting a wedding in Manitou Springs on Sunday that I’m OH so thrilled about. One, because it’s my first official wedding of the season. Two (and MOSTLY), because the bride and groom are AH-mazing. It’s going to be an intimate elopement… AAAh, romantical right?! And from her description, her dress is going to make every bride-to-be smitten. So keep an eye out for that one!

You know what? I’m so excited for those three things that I’m going to skip the not-so-RAD parts of my week. They’re in the past – who cares. Boom.

Session Style

Now – I don’t even come CLOSE to considering myself any type of fashion guru or blogger or anything… however I do have opinions on some current trends that I love – and that I especially love to shoot! So, I figured I’d blog about it! I mean, why not? Plus people ask me all the time “What should I wear on my shoot?”… well, I can’t answer that for you. As all of my lovely clients know, I want to capture who YOU are – and who you are is expressed through your fashion a lot of the time.:)So…. that being said – here’s something I like a lot.

(Can I take a second to say how FUN it is spending time on Polyvore? Woo!)

Casual, bright fun

I’m LOVING the neons coming back lately… but if they are a little to extreme for you, I do enjoy the more muted, sherbert colors too. And boyfriend jeans! Ahhh, I love boyfriend jeans. So in this look, the casual, but fun colored tee paired with the boyfriend jeans looks too cute with the bright wedges (and they “dress it up” a bit too). Don’t get me started on wrap bracelets either – obsession. Actually, I like most bracelets. Anyway, this is a super cute, laid back look that would fit a fun and light downtown engagement session perfectly. Holding hands with your man, strolling down the street to the local cafe for some coffee… Ack!:)So cute.

Okay so that’s my silly little attempt at a style blog.:)I’ll be posting more in the future as I find cute stuff!

OH and P.S…. I don’t expect people to agree with the stuff I like. But hey – it’s my blog!;)haha

Anna + Travis Wedding {another opportunity to second shoot!}

I’ve said it before – I’ll say it again… and again… and again (hello? echo? echo?). Second shooting WILL make you a better photographer. Hands down. I LOVE the challenge of second shooting – despite the fact that submitting the raw, unedited images to the lead photographer brings me SO much anxiety (“Did I expose well enough? Did I get everything she needed me to get?!”). So, I’m uber thankful that Gretchen asked me to help her for a few hours for Anna & Travis’ wedding. It was a small, intimate wedding. And holy cow – check out Anna! Gorgeous, right?

Thanks, Gretchen, for letting me be a part of this day! I had a blast.:)

OH and as a side note – this wedding let me fully take advantage of my new camera’s yummmmmmy high ISO capabilities. :::swwwwooonnningggg::: Okay, geeking out moment done.

A Day in the Life…

***WARNING*** This is a HUGE post!:)

Oh my goodness this was so fun to do. I have been considering offering Day in the Life Sessions (New name possibly coming soon…gotta get the brain to start storming up something) for a while, but I wasn’t sure. So I decided to “practice” on my tiny human. This session captured everything from wake up time to nap time to bedtime. Play time, snack time, and bath time. Smiles. Tears. Breakfast at Snooze, a trip to Target, a visit to Daddy’s office, and an adventure in the Disney store.

So enjoy, and let me know your thoughts! And if you or someone you know would like more information on booking one of these sessions, shoot me an email!
